How long do I have to wait to restain my solid colour stain?

Solid colour wood stains can allow for frequent recoating, while clear options require more time

Use the water absorption test to determine if your wood is ready for a new application of stain.

Do you want a new stain colour or opacity?

Lighter opacities (like clears and toners) allow your wood to weather more naturally, while solid options provide richer, opaque colour. If you're stuck in the middle of these two options, consider a stain with a semi-transparent opacity. These stains tend to be our most popular stain choices and they provide a subtle touch of colour to your wood, while also allowing its natural beauty and texture to shine through.
